Transfers...AGAIN?
My favorite little investigators!
Welllllllllllllllllllllllllllll HELLO! :)
I will hit some of the HIGHLIGHTS!!!!!
MLC- you
might be asking....WHAT IS MLC? Missionary Leadership Council. It is
pretty much just a secret society of Elders and Sisters instigated by
the mission president to make all us commoners feel bad...OR SO I
THOUGHT!!!!! No, but actually it is a day of council between President
Snow, the Assistants to President Snow, the Zone Leaders, the District
leaders, and the Sister Training Leaders. There are trainings,
return and reports, messages, and discussions on how we can improve as a
mission. I was invited to attend MLC on Tuesday Night and MLC was held
on Wednesday morning. It was pretty crazy to get it all together! I
learned so so so much! One thing that they are starting this transfer is
that Sister Training Leaders will be the equivalent of Zone Leaders, so
each Sister Training Leader will be with another Sister Training Leader as companions. It is going be pretty great I think!
TRANSFER DOCTRINE- On
Saturday we found out about Transfers. I was really nervous that Sister
Herman and I would both be leaving!!! But no! Sister Herman is going to
Henderson and she is going to be replacing my trainer who is going home
tomorrow! RIP Sister Fursentau! You will never be forgotten in my
heart! You are a NVLM legend! My new companion will be Sister Nichols!
She and I both go home on the same day. We will also be covering two
wards instead of just one. Winterwood Ward and Vegas Valley Ward! Yay
for 6 hours of church on Sunday! (That might get real old really fast!)
Hopefully not! It will be interesting trying to juggle both of the
wards! Winterwood has had really good elders for a while, but I think it
is time that they got some REALLY AWESOME SISTERS!!!!!
GONZALES FAMILY AT TESTIMONY MEETING- On Sunday we had a very less active family at church. The mom
(Sister Gonzales) is a member and her husband Junmer is not. The
children were baptized about a year ago and they come sometimes, but the
mom never comes. Well on Sunday not only did Sister Gonzales come to
church, but she also got up and bore her testimony about the Book of
Mormon in her broken English. It was so so inspiring. She told about how
she came to know for herself that the Book of Mormon is true through
prayer. She also expressed that she is working very hard for her husband
to become a member.
EVELYN'S BAPTISM-
Evelyn Roach is an 8 year old in our ward that was baptized with the
stake primary on Saturday. We got to bring Mia and Kissy to the Baptism
with us because they are preparing to get baptized on August 9th! They
are really excited! It was perfect for them to be able to see
someone around their age getting baptized. Mia really wanted to just
sneak into the font and get baptized right then and there! It was so
sweet to see the desire in her eyes.
CRYING AT THE HARRIS'-
Wellllllllll this is the sad part of my email. We went over to the
Harris home because none of them came to Church on Sunday. Grandma
Shirley opened the door and said "We have a problem." That is never
something a missionary wants to hear! She told us that Eva (Mia's mom)
and Mia got into a really heated debate ending in a lot of crying and
the sentence "Mia can no longer go to the Mormon Church!!!" WOW! We were
floored. Apparently most of the argument had to do with blacks and the
priesthood. Sister Herman and I tried our best to apologize and to set
things straight, but there was nothing we could do. It was quite a let
down. We will keep praying for them and writing them though! Do you all
have any ideas about how we could clear up their doubts? They went to a
website (not lds.org)
and found a lot of negative information. It is all just such a mess. I
just want Mia to have this so bad and she wants it too. She just kept
crying and saying "This is not fair." I would say the same thing!
Two Trainings- On
Thursday the Zone leaders asked me to take one of the MLC trainings and
train our zone on obedience and the white handbook. It was actually
kind of fun. I was a little nervous because the Assistants showed up to
our Zone Training Meeting, but all things considering, it went really
well! Sister Herman and I also trained
on the use of Family Mission Plans and The Willing and Brief. It went
really well! I think everyone was inspired to do a little more in
the name of missionary work :)
I
am sad to see Sister Herman leave this area, but at the same time I
feel so privileged to be serving with Sister Nichols this next transfer.
I had a dream that we were serving as companions together just last
week. I am continuing to serve Sister Herman by helping her pack up and
by cleaning our apartment out.
I
am working on being diligent and obedient by having focused personal
and companionship studies! I love the spirit that I can feel during
those times of the day. I am also working to be more obedient to my call
to serve others. I have been actively looking for little things I can
do around my area to help others.
This week been sweet and sour. Sweet because we were able to work extra hard, but sour because we had a really sad experience.
HAVE A SUPER GREAT WEEK!
I LOVE YOU ALL SO MUCH!
