I love being a missionary.
ALOHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!! Howdy :) Hi :) :) :)
Well...we are in the double digits now.
99 more days.
Gasp.
I
am happy and sad about that. Mostly happy because for the next 89 days
Mia and I are going to read the Book of Mormon all the way through! We
are reading 6 pages a day and I am loving it so far. I did this same
challenge at the beginning of my mission, so I am excited to do it again.
It was actually Mia's idea. We were teaching her about the Book of
Mormon and she asked how long it took to translate. We told her that it
took about 90 days, and she was amazed. Then we explained that it would
take a Book of Mormon translator probably 6 days to translate one page
from English to another language. Then she told us that she wanted to
read the Book of Mormon in the time that it took Joseph Smith to
translate it. We told her that it would be 6 pages a day and she said, "Then 6 pages it is." Sooooo now we are reading it personally
everyday!!! I like reading it at a fast pace so that you get the whole
story line. Recently I was reading it slooooooowly....like a chapter a
day. I like it that way sometimes so that I can really dig into it and
look up cross references. I know that it was inspired that I needed to
do this challenge at the beginning and end of my mission!
Anyone want to join me?
So a quick story from this week...
Sister
Herman and I were going to interviews with President Snow and we had to
give some Elders a ride. We got them and when we pulled up to the
chapel we saw a funeral car. Odd. Then when we got inside and we saw
tables with scrapbooks and the cultural hall filled with tables and
chairs and food...then we round the corner where the relief society room
is and what do we see?! An open casket. I
was pretty shocked. I had never seen a dead body before....but I had
heard of open casket funerals. I don't think that I was as
shocked as the Elders from England and Australia though! They had never
even heard of open casket funerals before!!! They were mortified!!! It
was a crazy day.
Favorite Scriptures this week:
Jeremiah 20:9-
9 Then I said, I will not make mention of him, nor speak any more in his name. But his word was in mine heart as a burning fire shut up in my bones, and I was weary with forbearing, and I could not stay.
2 Corinthians 12:7-10-
7 And
lest I should be exalted above measure through the abundance of the
revelations, there was given to me a thorn in the flesh, the messenger
of Satan to buffet me, lest I should be exalted above measure.
8 For this thing I besought the Lord thrice, that it might depart from me.
9 And
he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is
made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in
my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.
10 Therefore
I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in
persecutions, in distresses for Christ’s sake: for when I am weak, then
am I strong.
Pretty
beautiful right!?!?! Why have I not seen these scriptures before?!?!?! I
know that through hard times I can find peace, comfort, and hope in
the scriptures. They truly are the words of God through his prophets.
Sorry this email is short and sweet today! It has been crazy :/
I LOVE YOU ALL SO MUCH!!!!
Love,
Sister Tucker
