birthdays. blessings. and back brace.
ALOHA!
Happy Monday!
my life is good. reeeeeeeeeeeeeeal good.
How is everyone else doing?
this has been the craziest week of my entire life. period.
i
have definitely gained my own unique testimony of prayer. unique not
because i believe in the power of prayer (i already knew that), but
because i now know that the spirit can teach me what to pray for. those
prayers are much more powerful.
anyway....THANK YOU FOR THE BIRTHDAY WISHES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WHOOP WHOOP! 21 in vegas!!!!!
for lifeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee! Yep. It was a really good day. We did a
lot of service and we were able to have some great lessons! I had
breakfast dinner! my favorite. and we put together wedding invites for
our investigator that is getting married before her baptism! It was really fun! My family is awesome too! they did cut outs of themselves
and sent them to me so that they could join the party! my comp decorated
my desk and made me chocolate chip pancakes. Isn't she GREAT?!?!?! pretty much it was the best day ever.
moving on.
so the next day was not so awesome.
it was planned to be awesome!
we
went to missionary leadership council and we drove the elders with
us(elders are always low on miles...even at the beginning of the month
when it is impossible to be low on miles). the training that we received
was fantastic as always. it began with the huge long lecture on vehicle
safety...(that was when i told sister decoster that we were going to
have an accident) then it went into having patience...then the
importance of consecration...and so on. we really received a lot of
revelation for our zone! (this
is top secret....we got to watch the first half of meet the
mormons....IT IS SO TOTALLY AWESOME!!!! GO AND WATCH IT IN
THEATERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! we will be taking our investigators this
week! (with presidents permission of course)) :) :) :)
so
this is where it gets a little not too awesome. On our way home we were
driving on freeway 2-15 from henderson to las vegas and we hit a patch
of traffic. at the time we were having a nice discussion about how we
were going to take the training we received to our zone....then the car
in front of us slowed down really fast and we did too. we had a few feet
in between us and the car in front of us. Unfortunately the car behind
us (a mustang) did not see that we were slowing down and it hit us hard
(going about 65) which then pushed us into the car in front of us. there is no doubt in my mind that angels were protecting us in that moment. the car was an accordion afterward but the middle and the seats were completely unharmed. that morning i prayed for patience and for peace.
Heavenly Father blessed me with those two things. i don't usually pray
for those things but i know that the spirit was guiding my prayers. our
car was totaled, but the airbags did not deploy. we were able to get
over two lanes and park the car and get out. i am so grateful that
everyone is still alive. an hour later we were all in the urgent care
(which was such a waste of time because they just shipped us off to the
ER) Everyone is okay now. i got a sweet neck brace and i had some nice
bruises on my arms that are turning yellow now. i hit my head on our
complex clicker but it is healing. please pray for my companion. she hit her
back pretty hard and she is hurting a lot. the elder that was sitting behind me
has a hairline fracture in his back and he gets to wear a super hero
back brace...we call him BACKMAN!!!! we are going to see some more doctors this week for more x-rays. fun fun fun fun! so that's the story.
CONFERENCE WAS AWESOME!!!! we
got permission to watch all the sessions at the allen's home so that we didn't have to hurt our backs on the hard pews. my favorite talk was the
one by Elder Klebingat about gaining confidence before God! I also
liked Uchtdorf, Holland, and Bednar's talks....and every other talk!!!!
i want them all!!!! while at the allens we made homemade lasagna (with
love)! it reminded me so much of home! i loved it! Under President and
Sister Snows orders we have been commanded to rest for a while....that
is really boring...hopefully we can get back up and running soon.
conference came at just the right time for me. i really need that
spiritual boost :)
i felt like i could really relate to this quote from conference:
"The hit bird flutters" -Lynn G. Robbins
hopefully
that won't happen again :) our wards have been super awesome to
us...getting our prescriptions, bringing over food, giving us hugs,
calling us. and our zone has been super helpful as well...writing cards,
bring over ice cream and Halloween decorations. we have so
many blessings in our lives.
