CINCO DE MAYO or The Fifth of May :)
Hellooooooo :)
Friday Today was a spiritual packed day! We had Zone training meeting :) We talked a lot about Charity and the importance of street contacting and how we should realize all the things we were able to improve on :) We then had weekly planning and I made these really good Bran Muffins! The recipe made a ton! We also had a lesson with Chervine and her granddaughter Courtney so that was great. We also got to see Ashley and Tim :) They are just awesome and amazing ward missionaries.
Saturday is a special day, its the day before the day before P-DAY!!!! It was great! We had a lesson with Frank and we brought a member named Betty :) She is super nice. We then had an awesome lesson with one of our new investigators named Alexandra :) She and her mom use to go to the Jehovah Witness church but was never baptized so they are checking out other churches. We also got to go to the High Priest Group Social because Frank went... which was a miracle and they had an awesome presentation on sound waves....I kept thinking that they would apply it back to the gospel but they didn't.
Sunday Today we had a wonderful fast and testimony meeting :) Sister Pantoja bore her testimony! It was really special. She has not shared her testimony in sacrament meeting since she was 8!!! We had awesome lessons by our members that I wish our investigators could have come too... Oh well, at least Timothy did!! :) We also had TWO Dinners!!!! Hahaha! It happened on accident. We also were able to finish weekly planning AND!!!!! We were able to get 101 street contacts this week!!!!! I was super excited :)
Forgetting myself and focusing on others.
Now that you have been out for a year, what advice do you have for those about to serve?
HAPPY CINCO DE MAYO!!!!
I really wish I was in El Rancho just for today! I must admit that I do
miss some beans and tortillas (but not too much!). Cafe Rio usually
fills that void. Anyway...this week has been a pretty good one except
when we almost got in a car accident and when I found a
dead fruit fly in my ear. Luckily I am still alive :) (Fruit flies can
be so vicious!)
I
have really enjoyed studying the Book of Mormon recently and can I just
say that I LOVE IT A LOT... for reals. I read in Alma 12 yesterday and I
really liked the verses on the creation and how from the beginning
Heavenly Father has communicated with his children. My prayers have
changed a lot on my mission. I have come to feel more comfort and peace
then I ever have in my entire life. Even when I feel all alone, I know
that I can feel comfort from my Savior who had to do many hard things
all alone.
This
week of my mission has been a record breaker. We had 101 street
contacts. We worked so, so hard to talk to everyone and the Lord blessed
us so much! There are so many prepared people in our area and we have
lots of follow up appointments. I really hated talking to strangers and
sharing the gospel with them at the beginning of my mission because I
felt like a sales person....but now I know that the Lord puts those
people in our path because they are ready to hear what we have to share.
This is His work not mine.
Monday Today
was a fantastic day! We had a wonderful P-day.
We ate at Zupas and
emailed and then we played P-day sports with all of the missionaries! I
dominated because the Elders can not tag Sisters!!!! HAHAHA!!! It is one
of the best things! We then had a awesome lesson with our investigator
Frank. We really hope that he will receive an answer soon. He really
wants to know if what we are saying is true...the problem is we are kind
of having a Korihor complex with him. Hopefully we can resolve that.
TUESDAY
WAS THE BEST!!!!! I was on exchanges with Sister Pulliam! We talked to a
lot of crazys. Her area is full of them :) I would tell you stories but
they are creepy! We had some great lessons...I think we taught four
people. My favorite lesson was with their Jamaican investigator Winston.
He is really funny. He is a Dad of 2 but he acts just like his kids! We
also went to a LA named Laura.
She is so sweet and I included a
picture of her and her house! She would not sit down for a picture so I had
to sneak one :) WE HAD AN AWESOME DINNER TOO! Best one of my mission.
It was Salmon, watermelon, and broccoli salad! It was super great :) All
my favorite things!
Wednesday Today we were able to teach a lot of lessons and street contact,:) We were able to see Timothy which is awesome because he is getting baptized on May 10th :) We then talked to someone who told us that she was a Paranormal and that she talked to spirits... it was a really interesting conversation. She then told us that she saw these other missionaries who were two men walking and she turned her back to them and said that when we came up that she felt like she needed to talk to us. :) It was awesome. Hopefully one day we can teach her.
Thursday Today all the people that we street contacted and had appointments with fell through... Oh well, maybe we will catch them some other time. But we did get to see Timothy and he is really excited about being baptized! It is super cute :) We also ate at the Allsop's house. He is an amazing cook! We had homemade pizza... Although it was not as good as Sister Smith's homemade crust pizza! IT WAS ALSO MY 1 YEAR MARK!!!! Everyone did super nice things for me! Pictures to come!
