Halfway there:)
ALOHA (and hola) family and friends!!!
It is just another ALOHA FRIDAY here at the MTC.
I
AM LOVING THE MTC!!!! I am doing super well! Thank you to everyone who
has written me a sweet notecard, letter, or dearelder. They mean the
world to me and I will keep them forever :)
This week has been the bomb dot com. Hermana
Young and I received two new investigators this week. They are the
sweetest ladies ever. They are also our language teachers. Sorry to ruin
the surprise for you! Our teachers take on the role of an investigator
that they had in the field so we get a little taste of the mission field
(and we get a little taste of the glory(a nacho libre
reference)). Hermana Young and I have had some really special
experiences with both of our investigators. It makes me very excited for
the real thing.
One of our investigators, Esmerelda, is very unique. The first few times we came in to visit her, she
was super cold towards us. We asked her what she wanted to learn from
us during her first lesson and she said she wanted to hear about prayer.
We focused our entire first lesson on the L0ve of God and how prayer
can help us with that. We challenged her to pray on her own and at the
end of the lesson she said a prayer out loud which she said she had not
done in a while. We bore our testimonies to her that we know that God
answers prayers. We told her that the Spirit would help her to feel
peace and to know what was truth. By the end of the lesson Hermana Young
and I were in tears :) It is so speical to trust in the Spirit
to guide the lesson for Esmerelda. We know that she felt that too.
In
our last lesson with Esmerelda we asked her if she prayed on her own.
She said no. I was devastated. Then I was mad. I knew that she felt the
Spirit during our lesson and I know that if she would only pray on her
own, we would be able to progress with her. Right in that very moment of
frustration I got this overwhelming feeling of love for Esmerelda. I got
a glimpse of how God sees her. I knew that it was the Spirit telling me
to
just love her. Love her no matter what. She is His daughter. We asked
Esmerelda why she had not prayed and she said it was because as a child
she was abused by her father and she would pray all the time that the
abuse would stop. Me and my companion were speechless. Then a tender
thought came to my mind and it told Esmeralda, "Your father was not
perfect. What he did was very bad. But our Heavenly Father is perfect
and He loves us. He wants to hear our prayers and he wants to comfort
us." I know that those were not my own words. I can't even express how
special it was.
I hope everyone is doing well! I miss you all and I want to hear from you! Write me or send me a dearelder :)
I LOVE YOU ALL!!!
Love,
Hermana Tucker
